Special counsel Robert Mueller was not appointed to find evidence of “collusion” between the 2016 Trump campaign and Mother Russia because there isn’t any evidence to find.
It just didn’t happen — though, unfortunately, far too many Americans believe it did simply because they don’t like POTUS Donald Trump.
So if that isn’t why Mueller was appointed, what’s the real reason? The answer should be obvious by now: To harass and undermined the president and anyone and everyone who has ever been associated with him.
But wait, you say. Mueller’s indicting people. He’s getting convictions. Some are going to jail or, at least, may soon be once he’s done using them.
Yes, Mueller is getting indictments and convictions. But he’s not getting them for the reason he was supposedly appointed: Trump-Russia “collusion.”
Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, long a critic of Mueller’s investigation, noted this on Thursday in reaction to news that POTUS’ former longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, was set to plead guilty to lying to Congress regarding the timeline for a Trump Tower in Moscow, a project that never got underway.
Dershowitz slammed Mueller because he now has to “resort to false statement prosecutions,” meaning that the special counsel “didn’t start with very much” when he began his investigation more than a year-and-a-half ago.
“I think the weakness of Mueller’s substantive findings are suggested by the fact that he has to resort to false statement prosecutions, which really shows that he didn’t start with very much and that the very fact that he’s conducting an investigation has created these crimes,” Dershowitz told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer, Breitbart News reported.
That’s a valid point; there would have been no crimes to prosecute — in Cohen’s case and in the case of retired Lt. Gen, Michael Flynn, POTUS Trump’s first national security adviser — had the investigation never been launched. (Related: WOW: Deep Staters Comey and McCabe LET Sally Yates SET UP Michael Flynn.)
“These are not crimes that had been committed prior to his appointment, they’re crimes that were committed as the result of his appointment, and that raises some questions about the role of special prosecutors in creating crimes, or creating opportunities for crimes to be committed,” Dershowitz continued.
“In the end, I don’t think Mueller’s going to come up with very much in terms of criminal conduct that existed before he was appointed, and that’s pretty shocking,” he added.
Indeed, the law guiding the naming of a special counsel is clear: There has to be evidence that a crime has been committed, thereby giving the special counsel something substantive to investigate.
In the case of Mueller’s appointment, no evidence of a crime existed because “collusion” isn’t a crime in the first place, even if it did happen (and it didn’t).
We can’t even call Mueller’s investigation a counterintelligence probe because he isn’t a counterintelligence official and there are other federal agencies far better suited for that task.
So Mueller’s purpose in life has come down to harassing former Trump associates, allies or campaign officials to include Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Carter Page and now Dr. Jerome Corsi, in addition to Cohen and Flynn — and ruin their lives by creating a criminal act out of thin air while depleting their bank accounts and trashing their careers.
Talk radio legend Rush Limbaugh this week described Mueller’s probe as “a political operation” designed to reverse the results of the 2016 election that all of Deep State Washington thought was going to handily go to one of their own, Hillary Clinton.
He also reminded listeners of something the official who appointed Mueller, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, said in July when announcing the special counsel’s indictment of 12 Russians for allegedly hacking the Democratic National Committee in 2016: That no Americans have been implicated and no votes were changed in the 2016 election.
So why, again, was Mueller appointed? It should be clear by now.
