On Friday CNN aired “exclusive” video of heavily armed FBI agents storming the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., residence of longtime Trump associate Roger Stone.
From the aggressive pre-dawn raid tactics demonstrated by the agents to the description of it by breathless anchors at the noted anti-Trump network, you’d have thought that special counsel Robert Mueller had indicted the 21st-century incarnation of Al Capone.
Looking at the video you’d think that Stone, 67, was holed up inside his home with an arsenal of weapons and scores of well-armed henchmen just waiting to unload on their potential captors. If you didn’t know better, you might assume that Mueller’s allegations included robbery, murder, theft, and violent criminal actions. (Related: ANALYSIS: To save America, Trump must declare a “New American Revolution.”)
But no. Stone was charged with seven counts including such heinous crimes as fibbing to Congress and ‘obstruction.’ Witness tampering. Daring to find out what WikiLeaks had on Hillary Clinton.
Really nasty stuff, right? And yet, there were FBI agents all geared up as though they were getting ready to take down a major crime syndicate.
It was a pathetic and horrifying display of police state tactics and a mentality that, under those circumstances, has no business in an America that was built with the blood of Patriots fighting just that kind of tyranny.
Some have suggested that the strong-arm arrest tactic of sending FBI agents with automatic weapons was the brainchild of Mueller deputy Andrew Weissmann, who likes to throw FBI weight around because he gets his jollies watching it.
Regardless, whoever is responsible for the decision to use the tactic, it was wholly inappropriate.
But for the fact that it’s Roger Stone, this case is entirely appropriate for self-surrender, typically arranged through the person’s attorney. 2/

At a time when a growing majority of Americans have completely lost faith in our governing institutions, this kind of overreach does not help. For those who want to claim that “not all FBI agents are like this,” we ask: ‘Are you sure?’
